Carlos es Profesor Visitante del ITAM donde imparte cursos de Licenciatura, Maestría y Desarrollo Ejecutivo. Anteriormente fue Director de Área en la empresa Servicios Corporativos BAL (2015-2026), Director de Sistemas de Grupo Nacional Provincial (2003-2015) y Director General de la División Académica de Ingeniería del ITAM (1992-2003). En may-ago 2018 ocupó en forma interina la Dirección de Sistemas de El Palacio de Hierro. Obtuvo la licenciatura en Ingeniería Química de la Universidad Metropolitana, y una Maestría y un Doctorado en Ingeniería Civil en la Universidad de Carnegie Mellon. En 1999 cursó el Programa de Administración Avanzada de la Wharton School de la Universidad de Pennsylvania. Es autor del libro Knowledge Based Process Planning for Construction and Manufacturing (Academic Press 1989), de 25 artículos publicados en revistas y congresos internacionales con arbitraje y de cuatro capítulos en libros publicados por editoriales internacionales. En 1981 recibió el Premio Nacional de la Juventud de manos del Presidente de la República. En 2015 fue nombrado “Egresado Distinguido de Licenciatura” por la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana a 40 años de su fundación. Ha sido miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores y Presidente de la Academia Mexicana de Informática, A.C. Actualmente es Patrono Presidente del Nacional Monte de Piedad, IAP.
Carlos is a Visiting Professor at ITAM, where he teaches undergraduate, graduate, and executive development courses. Previously, he was Area Director at Servicios Corporativos BAL (2015-2026), Systems Director at Grupo Nacional Provincial (2003-2015), and Director General of the Academic Division of Engineering at ITAM (1992-2003). From May to August 2018, he served as interim Systems Director at El Palacio de Hierro. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Metropolitana, and a Master's and a Doctorate in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. In 1999, he completed the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of the book Knowledge Based Process Planning for Construction and Manufacturing (Academic Press, 1989), 25 articles published in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences, and four book chapters published by international publishers. In 1981, he received the National Youth Award from the President of the Republic. In 2015, he was named a "Distinguished Graduate" by the Metropolitan Autonomous University on the 40th anniversary of its founding. He has been a member of the National System of Researchers and President of the Mexican Academy of Informatics. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nacional Monte de Piedad, IAP.
