Luis Enrique Nieto Barajas es Licenciado en Actuaría por el ITAM, Maestro en Estadística por el IIMAS de la UNAM y Doctor en Estadística por la Universidad de Bath en Inglaterra. Trabajó en una empresa de investigación de mercados por 2 años y desde el 2001 a la fecha es profesor de tiempo completo en el departamento de Estadística del ITAM. Ha sido consultor estadístico para el IFE (ahora INE) en proyectos de redistritación, conteo rápido y revisión del padrón electoral, y consultor externo para diversas empresas. Recibió dos premios internacionales por su tesis doctoral: “Savage Award 2001” y “Premio Francisco Aranda Ordaz 2002-2004”. Actualmente es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores y ha publicado más de 34 artículos de investigación en revistas internacionales arbitradas. Pertenece a la Asociación Mexicana de Estadística y fue miembro de la mesa directiva, como vocal de 2005 a 2009, como vicepresidente de 2017 a 2019 y futuro presidente de 2019 a 2021.
Luis Enrique Nieto Barajas Has a BSc in Actuarial Science from ITAM, an MSc in Statistics from IIMAS-UNAM and PhD in Statistics from the University of Bath in the UK. Worked in a marketing research company for two years and from 2001 to date is full time Professor of Statistics at ITAM. Has been statistical consultant for IFE (now INE) is diverse projects such as district formation, quick count and verification of the electoral padron, and external consultant for several companies. Received two international awards for his PhD thesis, the "Savage Award 2001" and the "Francisco Aranda Ordaz Award 2002-2004". Currently is a member of the national system of researchers and has published more than 34 papers in peer reviewed journals. Is a member of the Mexican Statistical Association and has been member of the board as a vocal from 2005 to 2009, as a vice-president from 2017 to 2019 and future president from 2019 to 2021.
